Over the 4th of July holiday weekend we went camping at Smith Mountain Lake State Park. It was our first trip to the park and the lake. The campground was one of the best kept campground we have found at a Virginia State Park. We were able to get to the campground early enough to pick out a spot with parking attached to our camp site. There are also several camp sites where you park just a short walk from your site. The bathrooms and shower were clean and the camp hosts were very friendly. They were very kind and helpful when one of our daughters got sick. There are a lot of things to do near the campground including hiking, swimming at the park beach, renting kayaks and paddle boats. Nearby there is also a drive-in movie theater with it's own diner. Here are a few shots from our family trip!
